DEED Portal
The DEED Portal is a newly launched application whose design will, in time, allow district staff and DEED stakeholders a single point of entry into DEED systems. Through the Portal you'll be able to submit and access data, transfer files to/from department staff, and access DEED's various applications.
Currently, the DEED Portal supports:
- • Single Sign-On using your School District Credentials
- • Data Collection for the Suspensions and Expulsions collection
Getting Into DEED Portal
Accessing applications through the Portal is a two-step process. First, access to the Portal itself. Second, assignment to appropriate resources for your district. Here are the steps to follow:
- Go to https://portal.education.alaska.gov
- Click either Microsoft or Google, depending on your district's platform:
- After accepting the single sign-on security prompt, you'll be taken into the Portal and shown a message indicating you have yet to be assigned any resources.
- When you see that message, click Sign Out in the upper-right:
- Now, send an email to eed.tech@alaska.gov from the same email you used to login to the Portal. In the subject line put “DEED Portal Access” and in the body note your school district and which data collection you'll be submitting (eg: Suspensions & Expulsions).
- After your access has been verified, you'll get a reply to your email saying your account has been activated.
- Now log back into https://portal.education.alaska.gov
- You should see the Data Collection card. On it, click the View link:
- Now you'll be taken to the Data Collection section of the Portal, and you'll see a message that your account is active and pending assignment.
- Log back out again, and reply to the email thread you have with eed.tech@alaska.gov to let them know you've made it into Data Collection and need your final verification.
- You'll get a reply once you've been given the proper access.
- Sign back in to https://portal.education.alaska.gov, click the Data Collection card, and you will now see the options to upload data for your district.
Submitting and Validating Data
- To submit data to DEED, prepare your CSV according to the data collection handbook and header template. Files can be drag-and-dropped to upload.
- After upload, your submission will be validated and any errors or warnings presented. Resolve those issues in your SIS or otherwise, and repeat your upload.
- Once your submission is error-free, you can Certify.
- Along the way, if you have any questions about the collection itself, contact the appropriate DEED team. If you have technical issues, contact eed.tech@alaska.gov.
